and make sure it never happens again. there were recommendations that were made, and secretary clinton accepts all of them. we have to make sure that our diplomats or in places all around the world -- some of the places are very dangerous -- that they are protected. and congress has to do its part. i am troubled that the house has consistently low balled the monies for diplomatic security around the world and is constantly lowball anything to do with diplomacy around the world. moneys that have come out after negotiations between house and senate -- usually the senate had a higher amount of money. but the money that was agreed upon for both was much lower than had been requested. that is troubling. if congress is going to point the finger, we need to put our money where our mouth is. we need to make sure that our men and women who are in harm's also way all around the world to do such wonderful jobs, that we're protecting them and not doing this on the cheap. >> as we learned in the hearings and report, requests for more security could have been funded within the existing budget and we

. that is a concern that's expressed. again, you go back, though, through history. president clinton started the cops program where you have resource officers who are armed in the schools as a result of that. there is partial funding, but it's very limited and cut back and insufficient, obviously. it's going to take over $2 billion if you put a federal funded program for an armed person at every school. i think there's voluntary programs to look at if you have trained people, and we want to set up a model training for this. it should be an option that the local school board finally makes the decision. i can understand skepticism, but i think that school safety is the debate. i think it is terrific that the nra is willing to fund experts and st. louolutions free of cos the schools to hopefully create a voluntary program. >> it's more than skepticism. i want to read you two reactions to what the nra had to say. the first from mayor michael bloomberg who said they, meaning the nra, offered a paranoid vision of a more dangerous and violent america where everyone is armed and no place is same. the nra as'

the teleprompter. newt gingrich. he said the republican party right now could not beat hillary clinton in 2016, but we're hearing the beginnings of the efforts to discredit her as a potential candidate. newt gingrich weighing in on hillary clinton. what about that one? >> is this going to come at the end of his second term with a moon colony? you know. newt gingrich coming to hillary clinton's defense, i suppose we shouldn't be surprised. i'm still going to have a head-wrenching moment because wasn't he the guy who had something to do with impeachment? it's nice that he's gone back to his olympian position of musing on the state of politics. he couldn't really predict his own politics in his own primary very well. it's true that people might try and throw rocks at her. i just think stepping out of the washington fray means that she doesn't need to deal with this right now. so in terms of her own position, it's not like she's a nominee. she has to deal with congress. she doesn't even -- she managed to dodge the whole situation on benghazi pretty well for herself. you know, the tougher questions

clinton and the congressional republicans. it seemed at that time it was advantage president or whoever it was in the white house. is that the same sort of scenario we're seeing right now or is it possible for this president to overplay his hand? >> i think we're defining dysfunction down. i mean, the willingness -- maybe we will get an 11th hour agreement that avoids the fiscal cliff, but it will be a fairly minimal agreement. nothing like a big comprehensive deal. especially the republicans are having difficulty making the compromises you need to move forward in what is a very closely divided society. what is the alternative? you have a republican house but a democratic president who will be there for four years and a reasonable prospect if hillary clinton runs in 2016, a democrat will hold the white house then. what are we waiting for. in 1997 even, when a democratic president was reelected along with a republican congress, they said none of us are going away, we have to make a deal. that's not really happening yet. >> so tglass is half full for you? >> i think it can still happen, b

amendment. really the religious freedom restoration act. signed by president clinton. it says that persons if they have any religious rights violate and they are can challenge that the government has a high burden to overcome any kind of burden to your free exercise. they use the word persons there but didn't define it if you go to the regular definition of persons in the congressional code. corporations, companies, associations they are all includeded on or abouts a closely held business their religious rights are violated. individuals have no constitutional right to work at these places. you know what you are getting into. if you apply for the job. you are working there now. haven't heard of any individuals complaining. that's a separate situation that could come down the line possibly. though i don't expect it. this is just b. just basic religious freedom not asking for much here thanks for being here. as i said a very important precedent. let me know. does this violate hobby lobby's religious freedom let me know what you think at twitter dave briggs tv. college kid tossed in the slamme

clinton, we'll never know whether she could be a consequential great secretary of state because the presidential essentially dominates. he does not delegate. and the reality is both at state and defense, the interesting question will be it seems to me on whether or not in the second term the president will allow his national security team to actually help shape the policy that the president validates and authorizes. >> that is a very interesting point. i had not heard that before. i have heard other things that make me think differently about the independence of state in this administration, but one of the things i think is also at stake in the haguele discussion is the kind of amazing enduring power of neo conservativism in washington d.c. long, long, long after it should have been really definitively discredited as a conception of the world. it is remarkable, the washington post editorial board, a key sounding board to this world view, is going after hagel, again, going after hagel in ways to make me like chuck hagel who i did not have strong feelings about prior to going afte
